You Must Be Fast

Spent this weekend being “Sports Mom,” which means soccer and swim for my family.

We were waiting for Lyle’s last event when a kid in front of us asked him what he was swimming.

Lyle: 100 breast.

Kid: Heat 2? (Because that’s the heat he was in as well as another NCHSkid.)

Lyle: Heat 7.

Kid: Wow! That’s the final heat. You must be fast!

Lyle: Not really.

Me: He’s fast.  I’m his mom and I can say it. He’s fast.

Maybe not as fast as the kid who won the race and is going to swim at Notre Dame. But he’s come a long way from heat 2 last year and that’s something to celebrate.
